September Retreat Update

September Update From

Spring Lake

September was full of blessings around the camp! We were able to complete a few projects around the camp, host many groups and plan for future ministry opportunities here at Spring Lake Camp and Retreat. As of the end of September we have seen 5,064 people join us for either a summer camp or a retreat. One of the ideas that has been developed this month is to host a men and boys or father/son weekend in partnership with Arkansas Baptist State Convention. So, mark your calendars for September 26-27, 2020. You can join us for the weekend several different ways, one you can come tent camp & cook your own food, you can tent camp and buy a meal package, or you can stay in a dorm and enjoy a meal package. You will have the opportunity to hear missionaries talking about their journeys with the Lord. There will be men teaching their passion, like hunting, metal working and fishing. There will also be great guest speakers, music and campfires. It will be an amazing weekend and I cannot wait to see how the Lord will use it in the lives of the men and boys in our state. However, you choose to join us, just be sure you don’t miss out on this adventure. Details about how you can sign up for this weekend will be coming soon.

Over the weekend my family spent time on the front porch of our house overlooking the camp. It was about to turn dark and the group was gathering around a campfire for a time of worship. As they sang their voices made the way up the mountains and filled the valleys and our hearts with joy. It reminded me of the time when Isaiah entered the temple of The Lord, and witnessed the seraphim crying, “Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord of host; the whole earth is full of His glory!” As I read this passage I see evidence of smoke and coals, and the movement of God driving his people on toward the work that he has for them. This is what happens at camp, sometimes it is around the campfire, and sometimes it is in a chapel, but the Holy Spirit enters into this place and calls on the heart of man, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?” (Isaiah 6:8) Many individuals who come here say the words of Isaiah, “Here I am!” Send me.” The problem is that when they return home they forget that burning desire in their heart and their flame turns into coal. It must be stoked, this is the job of the church, “And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works.” (Hebrews 10:2) Pray how your church may stir up the work that the Lord started at camp or during a retreat this year.

Mission Village

David Mason set up one of the huts in Mission Village to look like a house in India, he then invited Dr. Cyril K. Antony to share what life in India looked like. Cyril asked the boys who were present to smell spices of India. He talked about how each spice has a unique purpose and flavor, and reminded the boys that they were all designed with unique abilities and the abilities were like spices in the hands of God. When The Lord wanted to use them He would move them around to get the most flavor in the Kingdom of God. He reminded them that when they give their life to Jesus, everything that they do with their life there after spreads the flavor of Jesus Christ. I can’t help but think this made an eternal impact on the lives of the boys

Pray for the several groups that will join us this coming month
at Spring Lake Camp & Retreat!
